“In Jesus what we see is a God who came to us, and He didn’t just suffer for us and die for us, He also suffered with us … He had compassion. … Jesus never just felt sorry for people and walked away. When Jesus experienced compassion, … He did something to alleviate the suffering. He was in it with them, and He sat in it with them, and He moved them forward. … If we are to live an imitation of Him, then we ought to be willing to suffer with those who are in pain, with people in our world, and not step away from them.”
